Local church to surprise low-income neighborhoods with back-to-school giveaway
On Saturday, August 17th, volunteers of Rhema Christian Ministries will march into two of Ottawa’s low-income neighborhoods and hand out thousands of dollars worth of school supplies at no cost or obligation.
An annual tradition, the goal is to make sure every child has what he or she needs to excel in the classroom. Everything from backpacks to pens, pencils and paper will be given away in this one-day blitz. It will target the communities of Heatherington in Ottawa South and Caldwell in Ottawa West. The largest presence will be along Caldwell Avenue in the same Carlington Community Rhema Christian Ministries is happy to call home.
